This is the first in a brand new series from SAS: Who Dares Wins collection by Billy Billingham. The action kicks off immediately from the first page and it never stops. Readers are treated to some of the amazing field action of SAS mission undertaken by Matt ‘Mace’ Mason, a decorated soldier who has survived risky missions to Middle East countries like Syria, Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan and now, Yemen - fighting alongside with his men to save a broken world.

This time, however, it is a mission gone wrong for Mason. He is deployed on a deniable SAS mission in war-torn Yemen, becoming embroiled in a hostage rescue that goes terribly wrong. Not only is the mission unsuccessful in rescuing Eli Drake, a priest from Norwich who has been kidnapped by the Houthi in Yemen and has been missing for three months now - Mason himself is captured after an explosion occurs during the rescue, killing one of his men as well.

Pulling at the strings of the local political scene is not only the local warlord who is destined to become Mace's nemesis, General Ruak Shahlai, but also hard-bitten American arms dealer Erica Atkins, who controls a whole international network to her advantage.

As well as his own team, Mace has to work, initially unwillingly, with female CIA Agent (and Islamic scholar) Redford. Together they will need to prevent an attack that would spark a regional war and create the largest environmental disaster the world has ever seen.

After his capture, Mason manages to escape and works his way to the border of Saudi Arabia before contacting the Ops room in Sana'a for extraction. Once he has rested and recovered from the ordeal, Mason again leads his team and the Regiment in support to foil Shahlai’s plan to attack Saudi Arabia using American weapons.

It becomes a do-or-die mission for Mason and his men as they race and fight the Houthi soldiers in an exciting action-packed thriller that will keep readers glued till the last page.

Author Billy Billingham who had spent 17 years in the SAS, was responsible for planning and executing strategic operations and training at the highest level in locations including Iraq, Afghanistan, South America and Africa, and had led countless hostage rescues. He later became a bodyguard to A list celebrities such as Brad Pitt, Sir Michael Caine, and Tom Cruise.

Since 2015, Billingham has been one of the lead presenters on the popular Channel Four series SAS: Who Dares Wins. Of the lead line-up, he is the only one with a genuine SAS career. Hence, he has the knowledge and insight of how the SAS operates and how the rescues are carried out.

An interesting and exciting read.
